I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science at the Lahore University of Management Sciences and the director of the Interactive Media Lab and the Gender and Technology Cluster at LUMS. I have a PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany and am a Fulbright scholar with a Masters from Cornell University, NY.
My research interests are in human-computer interaction (HCI), mixed realities and Human Computer Interaction for Development. My focus is on designing, building, and evaluating novel interactive systems with underserved populations in the Global South with a specific focus on the gendered design of technologies. Broadly, I am interested in understanding the social, technical, and access constraints of diverse populations and creating new technologies to address their unique contexts, constraints and aspirations. Much of my recent work has focused on maternal and mental health and well-being, financial inclusion, digital literacy, privacy and affective computing.
